Gluten Free Thanksgiving!
This was, thanks to the amazing productivity of my family and friends, a grand success.
Next time there will be gluten free pumpkin pie. This year we had to suffer with two kinds of fruit crumble for desert: blackberry and apple, and apple. Poor us! Not. *ahem* I think I made the best one *ahem*.
I’m staring at my computer screen wondering where to start writing this literature review. WHY am I doing this honours degree? And why did I not write more in the summer?
In other news: Jenny of the GFC sent this link on celiac bone health to me a couple days ago. She and I were both diagnosed with osteopenia in the last couple years. We also both go to fitness classes at the McKinnon gym. Coincidence? I think not.
The BBC article talks about how bone density loss is not only triggered by calcium malabsorption, but also by a malfunction of the immune system in people with CD. Researchers are optimistic about the success of drugs that would fight this problem. For more information, read the article, as I have to go stare at my word document again.
For thanksgiving, I thank my life for the love of my friends and family, a successful CD diagnosis (seriously), and socks, because it’s quite cold in my house.
